Materials developed around the project

CarBone Materials works with leather-based, textile, carpet, composite and technical or synthetic materials. Some projects begin with a carefully selected standard surface. Others require a new combination of colour, texture, backing, pattern or production technique. In both cases, the material is considered in relation to its final application rather than treated as an isolated sample.

We support automotive, marine, residential and commercial interiors, as well as individual commissions and small-series developments. The intended use, dimensions, geometry and visual direction help determine the most suitable material and construction.

Design, craft and production

Our work brings creative development and practical production into one process. Depending on the brief, a project may involve material consultation, pattern development, sampling and prototyping before the final surface is prepared.

Bespoke material development begins with a clear brief. References, intended application, approximate dimensions, preferred colours and the required surface character give us a practical starting point. We then help define the appropriate base material, techniques and next steps.

We work with designers, studios, workshops, brands and individual clients. The scope can range from a selected material or custom detail to a broader development combining several surfaces and processes.
